The Open Early Flower Show is for everyone, not just members. It is an exciting exhibition of home-grown flowers, fruit, vegetables, baking, plus a children's section.
Gardeners are often introduced to the excitement of exhibiting, through local shows. The challenge appeals not just to newcomers, but also to those more skilled in flower and vegetable growing. Many people are often pleasantly surprised how well they do when it comes to judging.
So, don’t be shy, this show is for first time entries as well as long standing supporters. Just taking part can be nearly as much fun as winning a prize!
What’s holding you back from exhibiting?
The fear of competition and a worry that your exhibit might not be good enough ?. If you’ve ever been to a show and seen some of the perfect specimens on display, it might be easy to think nothing in your garden would be good enough!
Most amateur gardeners grow to eat their produce or just to enjoy the look of their gardens. Showing is probably not on their minds but if something is good enough to show on the day, then all the better!
Take a look at the classes, choose one and enter your best example! Sometimes luck is as important as green fingers!
Don’t be disheartened if you don’t win. Look round and see why others were better and set out to beat them next year!
Good luck.
